Terms of Use

By creating an account you agree to what's on this page. If you don't, don't use Potion.

Who can use Potion

You need to be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up to check this. One account per person, and the account is yours alone don't share your password or let someone else use it.

Your account

You pick a username; we assign a permanent four-digit tag next to it (like potion#0001) so people can find you. The tag can't be changed.

Anything done from your account is treated as done by you, so pick a real password and don't reuse one from another site. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is in your account.

What you post

Potion is deliberately not a heavily policed space. We're not going to tell you what your posts should look like or what you and your friends can talk about.

There are limits, and they're the ones that put people at risk or put the service itself at risk:

A practical note rather than a rule: Potion runs on infrastructure we rent from other companies, and their own acceptable-use policies apply on top of ours. Content that gets our hosting or storage account suspended takes the whole service down for everyone, so we will remove it.

Your content stays yours

You own what you post. To actually run the service we need permission to store it, copy it between our servers, and show it to the people you've shared it with that's all this permission covers. We don't sell your content, use it in advertising, or license it to anyone else.

Moderation

We can remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break the rules above. We're a small team without a moderation department, so this is complaint-driven and imperfect. If something needs attention, use the in-app Report option where available or the support form. Reports include the target, reason and details you submit. Encrypted messages limit what we can inspect; explain the issue without assuming we can read the underlying conversation.

Membership previews

Potion currently provides its working features without a real subscription checkout. The membership and payment page is a demonstration: its prices, plan benefits and success screen do not create a paid subscription, charge a card or unlock account benefits. Do not enter real payment details. Any future paid offering will need clear pricing, billing, cancellation and refund information before you agree to purchase it.

The service is a work in progress

Potion is still being built. Features change, things break, and data can be lost during a bad deploy. There's no uptime guarantee and no guarantee your messages or posts will still be there tomorrow keep your own copy of anything you'd be upset to lose.

Ending it

You can delete your account any time from Settings. We can close an account that breaks these rules. Either way, see the privacy page for what happens to your data.

Changes

When these terms change we'll update the date at the top of this page. If it's a significant change we'll say so in the app.
